The Minister for Relations with the Citizens and Immigration, André Boulerice, gave a positive account of the "First Inter-American Meeting of the Ministers of Culture," which he attended in Carthagena, Colombia, on July 12 and 13. The minister was particularly pleased with the decision to set up an Inter-American Committee on Culture, which will set the stage for a permanent dialogue between the states and governments of the Americas, and the plan to conduct a feasibility study for a Cultural Policy Observatory of the Americas. He also took advantage of the occasion to review the Québec government's position regarding the possible establishment of an international instrument on cultural diversity. (Available in French only)
