The FTAA chapter on trade in services will allow countries to file exceptions for those measures they wish to maintain irrespective of some FTAA obligations. This will allow Canada to maintain the flexibility it needs to pursue its cultural policy objectives within the FTAA framework. Canada will also ensure that it preserves the ability to adopt or maintain regulations, administrative practices, and other measures in sectors such as health, public education, social services, and culture.
