France-Mexique : "Fonder une alliance stratégique pour faire face aux défis communs" - Document final

Ministère des Affaires étrangères, Paris, 22 octobre 2004 - 2004/10/22

On October 21 and 22, 2004, French and Mexican government officials gathered in Paris to review and give renewed impetus to their bilateral relations at the 3rd meeting of the Binational Commission. Civil servants from both countries (foreign affairs, economics, culture, and education), legislators (representatives and senators), and representatives of the cultural, academic, and economic sectors took part in this meeting. At the end of the day, the French and Mexican foreign affairs ministries decided to step up French-Mexican cooperation through a number of initiatives, e.g., increase efforts to revitalize WTO Doha Round negotiations on trade liberalization; continue to cooperate in UNESCO negotiations for the adoption of a draft convention on cultural diversity that addresses the concerns of all countries involved; and promote the regional strategic partnership between Latin America/the Caribbean and the European Union under the Guadalajara Summit action plan to strengthen multilateralism, social cohesion, and cooperation.
