La diversité culturelle aux Rencontres cinématographiques de Beaune (France)

The 14th “Rencontres Cinématographiques de Beaune” took place from October 21 to 24. Organized by ARP and the city of Beaune, Côte d’Or, the event was aimed at exchanging information and defining common goals for writers, directors, and producers throughout Europe. This event - the annual rendezvous of European cinema directors and professionals - is also a meeting ground for leading representatives of the American film industry. This year’s event welcomed over 450 professionals, including some 100 directors of various nationalities from Europe and the United States, and featured the following themes: For a New Alliance between Internet Providers and the Film Industry; Cultural Diversity in Europe and the World; Protecting and Paying Writers on Both Sides of the Atlantic; and New Film Technology. On the panel for Cultural Diversity in Europe and the World was Mr. Jean François Boittin, Minister Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the French Embassy in the United States; Ms Carmen Calvo Poyato, Spanish Minister of Culture; Mr. Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, French Minister of Culture; and Mr. Jean Mustelli, Council of State and a member of the independent group of experts in charge of drafting the tentative draft of the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity, among others.
