Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), 1 er octobre 2004 - 2004/10/01

OIF will hold the 10th Summit of Francophone Heads of State and Government in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on November 26 and 27, 2004, under the theme: " La Francophonie, espace solidaire pour un développement durable". Personal representatives of the heads of OIF member states and governments meeting in Paris at the 51st session of the CPF to go over final preparations for the summit also took stock of the negotiations on the international convention on cultural diversity and expressed their support for UNESCO’s initiative to foster cultural diversity and exempt cultural goods and services from trade negotiations. “The Francophonie considers cultural and linguistic diversity as one of the cornerstones of sustainable development because it encourages populations to adopt knowledge and development models respectful of local cultures.” ( Available in French ) [75]
