Comment relancer la création et la production audiovisuelle?

Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques (SACD), le 9 février 2004 - 2004/02/09

Within the framework of reforming the definition of audiovisual work, which is currently being undertaken by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, the SACD, the ADDOC (French association of documentary filmmakers), the Club des Auteurs, the Groupe 25 Images (French association of television film producers), the SPI (French union of independent producers), the UGS (French scriptwriters guild), and the USPA (French audiovisual production union) presented their proposals and held a joint press conference, during which they stated, “France is considerably behind other European countries concerning its production volume of audiovisual works.” They proposed several measures, to be applied immediately or in the near future, to reverse this trend: reform of the definition of audiovisual works, a return to production commitments, and their supportive contribution. To encourage films to be made in France and create jobs, television writers and producers propose two decisive measures: tax credit, which is already used for film production, and which should be extended to audiovisual production; and mobilization of local communities, who would be encouraged to support audiovisual creation and production through discounts. These organizations also recognized the need to foster production diversity through specific mechanisms to “facilitate and better finance writing and development, and thus contribute to the innovation and renewal of French television production.” (Available in French only)
