La cinématographie québécoise : "une contribution à la diversité culturelle"

Mme Line Beauchamp, ministre de la Culture et des Communications - Québec, le 27 janvier 2004 - 2004/01/27

Ms Beauchamp was thrilled with the Oscar nomination of works by filmmaker Denys Arcand and composer Benoît Charest by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Mr. Arcand is a finalist in the best original screenplay category for his film Les Invasions barbares, while Mr. Charest—composer of the score for the film Les Triplettes de Belleville—is up for best original song. Congratulating Mr. Arcand, Mr. Charest, and all the artists who contributed to the success of these films, Ms Beauchamp said she is “convinced that these nominations will further raise the profile of Québec artists around the world.” She notably stated that “On top of these honors, we can now say that the talent of our artists has shone brightly, giving Québec films an even larger place on the world stage. Our film industry has reached a maturity of which we can proud. It shows the value of our culture and its contribution to cultural diversity.” (Available in French only)
