Putting Transatlantic Relations on the Road to Recovery - Word Economic Forum, Annual Meeting 2004

Mr. Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec - Davos, Switzerland, Friday 23 January 2004 - 2004/01/23

As part of a workshop on transatlantic relations at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Québec Premier Jean Charest declared that Canadians staunchly defend the right of states and governments to protect cultural diversity. In trade agreement talks with the United States, Canada has always asserted its right to fund cultural industries. In this respect, “the United States must realize that cultural diversity deserves recognition and support.” (Available in English only)
