The 9th Annual Ministerial Meeting of the International Network on Cultural Policy (INCP) will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from November 22 to 25 . Mr. Gilberto Gil, Minister of Culture of Brazil and INCP President for 2006 , will welcome INCP ministers and their delegates .
The meeting’s first session will focus on the theme chosen by Brazil: Access to Culture: Copyrights and New Technologies, Evolving Challenges to Cultural Diversity. Brazil looks forward to a dynamic and informal exchange of views on the existing copyright system and its impact on creativity and development as well as in the promotion of diverse cultural expressions. In addition to discussions on the existing copyright system, ministers will continue to pursue their important dialog on questions related to the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, most notably its rapid ratification and implementation, in addition to other cultural policy issues.
INCP is an informal, international forum where national ministers of culture can explore and discuss new and emerging cultural policy issues and develop strategies to promote cultural diversity .
