The Belgian French Community’s Audiovisual High Council (CSA) adopts a recommendation on diversity in radio and public access to diverse radio offerings

On August 29, 2007, the CSA—the independent administrative authority in charge of regulating broadcasting in Belgium’s French Community—announced it was adopting a recommendation on diversity in radio and public access to diverse radio offerings.

The press release issued on the occasion specified that “in this recommendation, the CSA sets the criteria it will use with the dual aim of evaluating the structural pluralism and diversity of content offered by service providers (sections 6 and 7 of the radio broadcasting decree of February 27, 2003) and, when granting authorization to radio service providers who use analog ground radio relay channel transmission, ensuring diversity in radio and a balance in radio formats (music, culture, news) (Section 56 of the same decree).”
