The UNESCO Communication and Information Sector has announced that consultation meetings for the implementation of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Action Lines will be held from May 19 to 23, 2008, in Geneva, Switzerland. UNESCO explained that the consultations are “(…) an important occasion to enhance multistakeholder participation in the implementation of Action Lines as recommended in the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society”.
The main objectives of the meetings are to present concrete projects and initiatives that are aimed at implementing the action lines, to initiate joint ventures between stakeholders, and to promote the implementation of the WSIS goals.”
The coordination meetings will cover the following action lines: C3 Access to information and knowledge; C8 Cultural diversity; C9 Media; C7 e-science; C10 Ethical dimensions of the Information Society; C7 e-learning.
