The Secretary General of La Francophonie raises the Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions with the new executive secretary of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries

The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) website reports that on Wednesday, February 25 La Francophonie Secretary General Abdou Diouf met with the new executive secretary of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), Domingo Simoes Pereira, whom he congratulated on his appointment.

“The Secretary General of La Francophonie reiterated to his counterpart the importance that OIF attaches to cooperation between the three linguistic areas that bring together the Latin Union; the Community of Portuguese Language Countries; the Ibero-American General Secretariat; the Organization of Ibero-American States; the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization; and La Francophonie. CPLP is an active member of the network, which since its foundation in 2001 has been a tool for multilingualism and rapprochement for international organizations facing the same problems with linguistic recognition. Abdou Diouf also brought up the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions,” according to the OIF website.
