On April 2 and 3, Brussels will host the international colloquium "Culture and Creativity as Vectors of Development" organized by the European Commission within the framework of European Commission cooperation with African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries.
The objective of this colloquium is to highlight the importance of culture for the identity of people, peace and stability of societies, and the economic development of ACP countries.
Designed to produce recommendations to reinforce the future actions of the European Union (EU) in the area of culture and development, the colloquium will provide an opportunity for debate between artists, culture and development professionals, and political decision makers, both from ACP and European countries.
A meeting of 150 culture and development professionals from ACP and EU States will prepare the colloquium the day before. These experts will analyze constraints and possible solutions to facilitate the development of creative industries in developing countries. Their conclusions and recommendations will be presented during the plenary sessions of the colloquium.
Programs for the symposium and the meeting of professionals are available on the European Commission website.
