An OIF musical compilation to promote southern artists

The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) has announced the release of Francophonie 2009, its new musical compilation featuring 32 stars from the French-language music scene. The 3 CD boxed set seeks to raise the profile of southern artists among music professionals.

“Every year the release of the Francophonie compilation sends listeners on a voyage of discovery, to the rhythms and musical styles of the French-speaking world,” reads the press release. “Among the featured artists, some are experienced names ... ‘These artists must be able to proclaim their powerful artistic performances all around the world,’ notes OIF director Clément Duhaime, ‘because the stage is more than ever the route to the music market.’”

The compilation was put together by OIF in collaboration with Conseil francophone de la chanson (CFC) and Radio France Internationale (RFI).

Professionals may obtain a copy of the CD boxed set by emailing Conseil francophone de la chanson at sg@conseilfrancophone.org.
