Beijing hosts the 4th International Cultural Industries Forum

The 4th International Cultural Industries Forum (ICI Forum) was held in Beijing, China, on November 17 and 18. The Forum was organized and promoted by the Chinese Culture Promotion Society (CCPS), the Research Center for Cultural Industries and Policy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and the World China Network Association (WCNA).

The theme of the 2010 Forum was "Development of the Global Creative Economy and Cultural Diversity." The Forum brought together the leaders of a number of international organizations and industry associations as well as numerous culture and creative industry experts. Themes dealt with the creative economy and new technology, cultural industries in the world and new media in connection with cultural diversity, as well as policies on cultural diversity.

Among the many event participants, mention should be made of the following given their contributions to various efforts involved in implementing the Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: Mr. He Li (China), Vice-Director, Research Center for Cultural Policy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Expert, Cultural Diversity Fund, UNESCO; Ms. Mireille Gagné (Canada), Chair, International Network of Cultural Diversity (INCD), Director, Canadian Music Center (CMC); Ms. Giuliana Natale (Canada), Director, Liaison Bureau, International Network on Cultural Policy (INCP); and Mr. Charles Valerand (Canada), General Secretary, International Federation of the Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD).
