Diversité culturelle à l'ère du numérique (Cultural Diversity in the Digital Era. A Critical Glossary) was published recently by La Documentation française.
An initiative of the French National Commission for UNESCO, this publication explores the connection between cultural diversity and digital technology by defining practices and usage of some sixty terms, from "aggregator" to "virtual." Its target audience spans the general public, stakeholders, and decision makers concerned with culture, education, and governance in the digital era.
Close to fifty experts contributed to the glossary, which was edited by Divina Frau-Meigs, member of the French National Commission for UNESCO, and Alain Kiyindou, associate expert of the French National Commission for UNESCO.
The postscript is by Jean Musitelli, who has notably served with the group of independent experts with preparing the text of the Preliminary Draft Convention on the Protection of Cultural Contents and Artistic Expressions. The Draft Convention led to the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
