Projet de convention internationale sur la diversité culturelle : propositions françaises

Paris, le 1er août 2003 – 2003/08/01

With the approach of the 32nd UNESCO General Conference in Paris from September 29 to October 17, France has made its proposals public in an effort to “contribute to the process begun under UNESCO.” These proposals “aim to more clearly identify the main points that may be included in the future instrument, i.e., the agreement’s frame of reference, purpose, and general principles, as well as the type of public policies it should govern.” France is interested in how the agreement could be made into a tool for international solidarity, how it will relate to existing international law, and how it will be monitored and implemented. France also invites all interested governments and international organizations, as well as civil society, cultural professionals, and performers to discuss these proposals. (Available in French only)
