Observatoire des Amériques has announced the publication of a research paper by Sylvain Zini: “Économie politique du commerce international de biens et services culturels. Le cas du Canada et du Québec” (“Economic Policy of the International Trade of Cultural Goods and Services. The Case of Canada and Québec”). (See November 2007 research papers.)
The paper looks exclusively at the production of cultural goods in Canada and Québec. Observatoire des Amériques notes that, in particular, the author analyzes the role played by Canada and Québec in the international trade of cultural goods and services. By analyzing various subsectors, the paper attempts to define Canada’s specialized niches within the industry, “an exercise that cannot be repeated for Québec due to a lack of data,” according to Observatoire des Amériques.
Observatoire des Amériques is operated by Centre Études Internationales et Mondialisation (CEIM). CEIM is tied to the faculty of political science and law and Institut d’études internationales de Montréal (IEIM) at Université du Québec à Montréal.
The research paper is available online (in French only).
