Observatoire de la culture et des communications du Québec has announced that the 2008 edition of Statistiques sur l'industrie du film et de la production télévisuelle indépendante has been published.
The work was put together by Institut de la statistique du Québec, with collaboration from a number of other organizations with an interest in cinema. The Observatory notes that “the work brings together the information and analysis required to paint an overall picture of the current situation.” It lists the year’s feature films, the value of film production in Québec, the number of films reviewed and classified, and the number of holders of special distribution permits.
We also learn that “given its population and development, Québec’s film industry compares favorably to others.”
