Sanoussi BILAL – Juin 2003 – 2003/06.
This study was published as part of the senior seminar on the challenges of the Cancun Ministerial for Francophone Countries, held in Paris by Agence intergouvernementale de la Francophonie from June 25 to 27, 2003. Mr. Bilal provides an overview of the situation, briefly outlining the importance of services to world trade and developing countries, the challenges, and the framework of the General Agreement on the Trade in Services (GATS). It also provides a progress report on negotiations for the trade in services and concludes with a discussion on the upcoming issues to be addressed in negotiations, so as to prepare developing francophone countries for the conference in Cancun.
