United Cities and Local Governments—Documents approved by the Working Group on Culture at the meeting in Barcelona – 2006/10/23-24

In October 2004, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) adopted “Agenda 21 for Culture” as a reference document for its programs on culture. Agenda 21 for Culture advocates establishing the groundwork of an undertaking by cities and local governments for cultural development. It includes 67 articles grouped under three headings: “Principles, Undertakings, and Recommendations.” Established in June 2005, the UCLG Working Group on Culture is a forum for cities, local governments, and networks that place culture at the heart of their development processes. The Working Group held its first meeting on October 23 and 24, 2006, in Barcelona, where it approved two documents: “Advice on Local Implementation of Agenda 21 for Culture” and “Cultural Indicators and Agenda 21 for Culture.” You can download these documents at the following addresses: www.agenda21culture.net and United Cities and Local Governments
