Las políticas culturales del México contemporáneo en el contexto de la Convención sobre Diversidad Cultural de la UNESCO, by Fabiola Rodríguez Barba

The June 2008 edition of La Chronique des Amériques features an article by Fabiola Rodríguez Barba on Mexico’s current cultural policies in the context of UNESCO’s Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expression.

This article provides a brief overview of the cultural policies that have been put in place by the Mexican government over the last decade—in other words, its priorities and actions relating to the country’s cultural sector. The text is divided into four sections. The first contains a summary of the development of Mexico’s cultural policy. The second describes the infrastructure for cultural action, and the third examines Mexico’s role with respect to the UNESCO convention on cultural diversity. The fourth and final section of the article evaluates cultural policy from 2000 to 2007.

The document is available online, in Spanish only, on the Observatoire des Amériques website.
