Paris, capitale mondiale du combat pour la diversité culturelle

Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, Lettre d’information no 104, mars 2003

This information letter brings further illumination to the 2nd International Meetings that brought together professional cultural organizations in Paris in February at the same time that ministers of culture from member states of the International Network on Cultural Policy (INCP) met there. Faced with the issues and risks of economic globalization, the international community mobilized to “defend and preserve cultural diversity through the elaboration of an international instrument on cultural diversity that ensures a legal basis for the right of countries to establish their own cultural policies.” The INCP culture ministers also decided to get actively involved with their counterparts in trade, ministers of culture in foreign countries, civil society, and cultural industries and win over as many countries as possible to the Convention.
