IRIS Special ─ The Public Service Broadcasting Culture – 2007

The European Audiovisual Observatory has announced the release of an IRIS Special report entitled “The Public Service Broadcasting Culture.” In its announcement, the Observatory notes that “ Europe is marked by a great diversity in public service broadcasting culture which is a result of the different political, economic, cultural, and social realities in different European countries.” The IRIS Special report recommends a study of the regulatory framework for public service broadcasting in 14 European countries: Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

This study contains a European overview and 14 country reports on the following subjects: Public Service Remit, Corporate Structure, Financing, Decision-making Processes, the Impact of Politics, the Impact of Civil Society, and National and Cultural Aspects. It also includes a special report on Public Service Broadcasting in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine. Click here for more information.
