International Treaties and Art. International Journal of Cultural Policy, by Sandra Braman

CapsulesMonde invites readers to read a recent article by Sandra Braman, “International Treaties and Art,” in the International Journal of Cultural Policy (Vol. 14, Issue 3, August 2008). According to CapsulesMonde, “This article explores the impacts of international treaties like the UNESCO World Heritage Convention and others regarding the trade and circulation of artwork or relations between states. After describing the effects of these agreements on structures of the art market, the author examines the concept of art as national cultural heritage before turning her attention to states’ tendency to use the provisions of these treaties for political ends.”

The article is available through the Informaworld databank or the École nationale d’administration publique du Québec (ENAP) library.

CapsulesMonde is the newsletter of ENAP’s Laboratoire d’étude sur les politiques publiques et la mondialisation (LEPPM).
