Publication of the English version of the UNESCO document on language in cyberspace

UNESCO has announced the publication of the document entitled “Securing a Place for a Language in Cyberspace.” It is the English version of a document published in French in 2007 and has since been translated into a number of languages. The original version, entitled “Comment assurer la présence d’une langue dans le cyberespace ?,” was created with the help of the Latin Union and the intellectual contribution of expert Marcel Diki-Kidiri. In keeping with UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Promotion and Use of Multilingualism and Universal Access to Cyberspace, the goal of this document is to influence decision making by encouraging the inclusion of new languages in cyberspace.

The document is available in English, French, Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese.
