The French Coalition for Cultural Diversity publishes on cultural policies in France

The French Coalition for Cultural Diversity has published an article entitled “Cultural Policies in France,” which sets out, in nonexhaustive fashion, the main supporting policies put in place in France in various creative sectors (visual arts, audiovisual and cinema, books, music, and the performing arts).

On the article’s editorial page, coalition chair Pascal Rogard presents the article as follows: “The Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions acknowledges the legitimate right of states to adopt and implement policies to support creation and cultural industries. What is a cultural policy? How can we stimulate and support creation in the visual arts, audiovisual and cinema, books, music, and the performing arts? What role can government play? What place for civil society and the private sector? This article does not claim to answer the above questions in their entirety, nor to provide an exhaustive list of all the supporting measures put in place in France in various creative sectors. However, it will perhaps provide cultural and institutional professionals in other countries with food for thought regarding the definition and implementation of bespoke supporting policies, thereby helping to promote national creation and the circulation of their culture beyond their borders.”

The “Cultural Policies in France” article is available online from the French Coalition for Cultural Diversity website.
