United Nations resolution on culture and sustainable development

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on culture and sustainable development on December 14, 2015, which includes a reference to the 2005 Convention in the preamble. The resolution affirms the importance of culture as an enabler of sustainable development and recognizes its potential as a driver of a strong and viable cultural sector. It also emphasizes the contribution of culture to the three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social, and environmental) and notes that several of the targets in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development incorporate culture.

The text of the resolution is available on the United Nations website in English, French, and Spanish.
