Québec releases its Book Action Plan

On April 24, 2015, Québec's Minister of Culture and Communications and Minister for the Protection and Promotion of the French Language, Hélène David, and her parliamentary assistant Luc Fortin, MNA for Sherbrooke, unveiled the Québec Book Action Plan, whose theme is "Books at the heart of our culture."

The plan is the result of a vast consultation with Québec book industry stakeholders and includes 12 key measures to promote book publishing, reading, and literature in the province and support publishing industry businesses.

Public libraries and accredited bookstores play a crucial role in the dissemination of books, including Québec books, and promoting reading. The aim of the action plan is to help them be even more attractive, innovative, and efficient, which will in turn benefit the Québec writers they showcase, the publishers they help support, and the readers they serve.
