€500,000 in grants to be awarded to 20 Southern francophone film projects

This past July, Fonds image de la Francophonie’s selection committee chose 20 film projects to receive financial assistance for production (17 films) or post-production (3 films), for a total of €500,000. The chosen films are from 10 Southern francophone countries: Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Mali, Rwanda, Senegal, and Tunisia.

Fonds image de la Francophonie, which replaces the former Fonds francophone de production audiovisuelle du Sud created in 1988, is a joint project of International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) and Conseil international des radios et des télévisions d’expression française (CIRTEF). The new Fund is made up of two commissions: one for film and the other for television, and supports projects in Southern francophone countries shot in French or in a local language with French subtitles and filmed primarily in a Southern francophone country.

The list of selected films is available in French on the Images francophones website. For more information on the Fund and other IOF financing (French only), visit the IOF website.
