The History Committee of the French Ministry of Culture has just made public a collection of texts gathered and presented by Geneviève Gentil et Philippe Poirrier under the title: La politique culturelle en débat. Anthologie, 1955-2005 .
The ambition behind this anthology is to set out the meaning of the cultural policy conducted in France during the past fifty years or so. The selected method consists in giving prominence to the debates raised by the "policy" promoted by Public Authorities. The selection of the forty five texts gathered into the brochure allows to perceive the evolution of the selling points that have slowly created the legitimacy of a public policy on culture and aims also at grasping the general meaning of the cultural policy, without going - except for sufficiently significant exceptions - into the detail of the different sectoral policies .
