The Council of Europe published the 7th edition of its Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe. This 2006 edition is a web-based and permanently updated information and monitoring system of national cultural policies and trends in Europe. It is a long term project which aims to include all 48 member states co-operating within the context of the European Cultural Convention. This project is realised in partnership with a "community of practice" comprised of independent cultural policy researchers, NGOs and national governments
Comparative and monitoring tables have been re-organised under 5 thematic fields related to issues of cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue, funding for culture, cultural legislation and cultural participation. A heading deals notably on Governments Across Europe Announce New Policy Priorities and Strategies. Thus, one may learn that new cultural policy priorities and initiatives have been announced in Belgium, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine. An overview of changes in national cultural policy priorities in recent years, is presented under "cultural diversity" in the COMPARISONS section.
