The European Commission makes public the conclusions of the Editors Forum held in Brussels on December 6, 2005 and the answers to the public consultation on the way to strengthen edition competitiveness within the European Union more and more digitalized economy. Following the Commission Communication on “accelerating the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting”, the Commission also presented last September its priorities for radio spectrum availability in the context of the digital switchover and the upcoming ITU Regional Radiocommunication Conference 2006 (RRC-06) (COM(2005) 461. This Communication focuses on spectrum aspects of the switch-over, it identifies key issues and calls for action by Member States and by the Commission. It addresses several issues already raised in the context of past RSPG work on digital broadcasting.
In the same connection the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) together with DigiTAG have published a report entitled Analogue Switch-off Strategies in Western Europe.
