Launch of EuroNews in Arabic

The European Union has announced that on July 12, 2008, EuroNews launched its eighth language version and began around-the-clock broadcast (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Euronews was already available in seven languages—French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.

According to the press release, 17 Arab-speaking journalists were recruited to meet the needs of this European Union financed project. Under distribution agreements signed by EuroNews, the Arab language version of the channel can be seen in the Maghreb and Mashrek countries and the Gulf States.

The launch of the eighth, Arabic-language version of Euronews was held at the Arab World Institute.
