The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) has announced the official launch of Canal Académie’s “Espace Apprendre” on September 16, 2008, at Institut de France in Paris. Institut de France member and Canal Académie president Jean Cluzel and OIF director Clément Duhaime were in attendance.
During his speech, Duhaime stated that “by hosting and broadcasting radio content aimed at promoting new ways of learning and teaching French, the OIF is showing its commitment to taking its place and playing an active and tangible role in the long term.”
Canal Académie French language educational Web radio is sponsored by the OIF. It features some 3,000 programs that can be downloaded and heard for free.
“Espace Apprendre” offers an active listening program on Canal Académie. It features a selection of shows by French or francophone academics and specialists as well as topics for debate and discussion and research into a variety of subjects including science, literature, art, the French language, society, economics, law, history, archaeology, and more. It is aimed mainly at teachers and students of French as a foreign language and teachers in non-language topics, but it is useful to any member of the general public.
