A new look at literary encounters between France and China

According to Cultures France, the inaugural France-China Literary Encounters will be held in Paris on November 25 and 26, when seven Chinese authors will meet eight French authors for a series of debates.

“Open to the public, the inaugural literary encounters in French and Chinese will take a new look at contemporary Chinese literary, which remains largely unknown in France. They will foster dialogue from one year to the next to enable readers to learn more about literary creation in both countries, with the next meeting set to take place in Beijing in 2010.

“The debates will look at writing experiences in each language, the place of women in contemporary novels, literature and the spiritual, translations from one language to the other, and the role of literature today in France and China.”
