The most recent International Rostrum of Composers (IRC) in Lisbon, Portugal, from May 31 to June 4, is being organized by the International Music Council with the financial assistance of participating radio networks. IRC is an international forum of representatives of broadcasting organizations who come together for the purpose of exchanging and broadcasting contemporary art music.
“Currently, over 30 national radio networks participate in the Rostrum, presenting some 60 works composed within the five years preceding the Rostrum. . . .
“Moreover, all works presented at the IRC are made available by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to its wide network of members and associate members via satellite. These dissemination schemes ensure excellent international coverage for the composers.
“The International Music Council offers the Guy Huot Bursary for young composers to the composer whose work has been selected in the ‘under 30’ category, and the UNESCO Picasso-Miro Medal to the composer selected in the general category as well as to the producers of both selected works.”
