The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) recently drew attention to the second edition of Louma, an African documentary film event, which ran from June 2 to 10, 2010, in Saint-Louis in Senegal. The event seeks to promote African documentaries by encouraging networking between project proponents and filmmakers, producers, sponsors, buyers, and broadcasters.
“From June 7 to 9, Louma will hold the eight Tënk coproduction meetings in which thirty-odd young African filmmakers who have completed scriptwriting residencies between December 2009 and May 2010 in South Africa, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Senegal, and Togo will be able to present their projects to producers and broadcasters from Africa and Europe. A conference and film screening is also planned.
Organized via Ardèche Images’s Africadoc program, which seeks to develop African documentaries, Louma and the Tënk meetings have been supported by OIF since their creation,” reported the International Organization of La Francophonie.
