The Observatory of Cultural Policies in Africa (OCPA) recalls in its latest newsletter that one of the main objectives and achievements of OCPA is to develop region-wide cultural information services in the field of cultural policy.
"As you may know, in this respect OCPA has been developing, since July 2001: 1) its web resource centre and its electronic information bulletin OCPA News (262 issues produced), published twice a month and distributed presently to some 13,000 addresses. Thus during the last decade OCPA has become a main provider of information about initiatives related to cultural policies for development in Africa. To complement these information tools, OCPA is now launching a Facebook page," noted the Observatory.
The Observatory is a Pan African international NGO created in 2002 with the support of the African Union, the Ford Foundation, and UNESCO. Its aim is to monitor cultural trends and national cultural policies in the region and to enhance their integration in human development strategies through advocacy, information, research, capacity building, networking, co-ordination, and cooperation at the regional and international levels
