UNESCO's Executive Board voted in November 2015 to support a redesign of the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists. The UNESCO-Aschberg program was established in 1994 and awarded scholarships to support artists’ training. A new program will be developed in 2016 and 2017. It will focus on helping artists travel with preferential treatment for artists and cultural professionals in developing countries. Its goal will be to support creativity and cultural development in cities of the Global South through artists’ exchanges arranged via the Creative Cities Network.
