On April 23, Canadian Heritage Minister Mélanie Joly embarked on the process of updating Canada’s cultural policy for the digital world and implementing an export strategy for creators. Online pre-consultations on Canadian content creation, discovery, and export ran from April 23 to May 20. Public consultations will begin in September. This broad initiative will culminate in the modernization of Canada’s cultural programs and legislation as well as new funding models.
