An important consultation meeting on the 2005 Convention took place in Qingdao, China, June 20 to 22, 2017. It was jointly organized by the UNESCO Office in Beijing, the Secretariat of the 2005 Convention, and the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO. The goals of the meeting were to promote intergovernmental communication and cooperation and share best practices in the process of implementing the 2005 Convention.
The meeting enabled 21 representatives from 11 countries to take part in the discussion with representatives from many cities in China. It was the first meeting of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region and allowed more information to be shared between the 11 nations.
