Efforts to implement the Convention are underway!
Cultural expressions enjoyed a rich and fulfilling year in 2014! We kept tabs on new publications on the topic as well as activities during the year that drew attention to the objectives and principles of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. We also followed the work of the Intergovernmental Committee, including its work since its 8th ordinary session last December.
And with 2015 marking the 10th anniversary of adoption of the Convention, we will be keeping you informed of upcoming events in celebration of the occasion.
The Convention in a nutshell
The Bahamas are the most recent party to ratify the Convention, bringing the total to 135 (134 State Parties and one regional economic integration organization). New quadrennial periodic reports were also submitted by six Parties in 2014.

Cultural Policies and Measures – Best Practices
Under a cooperation agreement between Sweden and UNESCO, the Swedish Agency for International Cooperation on Development has earmarked US$2.5 million for the diversity of cultural expressions.

The International Fund for Cultural Diversity has launched its sixth call for funding applications.
