In this section, you will find the quadrennial periodic reports prepared by the Government of Québec concerning the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
Article 9 of the Convention sets forth the Parties’ obligation to report every four years on the measures it has taken to protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions, both inside its borders and internationally. The main purpose of the report is as a conduit for Parties to share their experience and best practices.
The Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of Québec concerning the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was signed in 2006. Among its provisions is for Québec to draft its own reports and in so doing consult Québec ministries and organizations in fields relating to the diversity of cultural expressions.
Québec has submitted two quadrennial reports since the Convention took effect in 2007, the first in 2012 and the second in 2016. The reports discuss the policies and other measures enacted by Québec ministries and organizations and in civil society to further the principles and objectives of the Convention.
